Tips for Work Out Confidence & $50 gift card giveaway

Dressing for your current size.  This past week I was able to attend a Fitness Magazine Meet and Tweet event in NYC.  It was a fun a event with great opportunities to learn about fitness and healthy living.   Oh yea did you happen to notice the picture above.. Yes that is me towering over the greatest female soccer player of all time!  MIA HAMM ..omg.  Check out my post /video tomorrow on the entire event.

There was a Fitness Fashion Show,  then style editor from Fitness Argy Koutsothanasis provided  2 of  my favorite tips:

  • Best Accessory is confidence it looks good on anyone (this  is the same thing I was saying last week in the confidence post)
  • Dress for your current size,  if you read my post last week you will realize I thing it is import to be comfortable in your skin no matter what size you are

Prior to going  to NYC, I went and purchased some clothes for this event.  The reason I think clothes that fit properly are important and they are an instant boost yourself confidence.  Don’t wait till you are a size 8 when you are a size 16  from a 22.  A great outfit will make you feel empowered no mater what size. .

That includes when you workout,  when you go to the gym and see the “smaller” women looking good. So you think.. “she is just showing off her rocking body (bitch)”.. well I say “yea for her!”  She worked hard to have that body. she could have been where you are right now.

I  might not be tiny.  I want to celebrate what I have accomplished this so far.  Now,  I am not saying it is not OK to wear your husband’s tee and sweat pants.  But If I need a pick me up I get dressed up in clothes that make me look great!

Look at the difference wearing clothes that promote the FRUMP.

Wearing an outfit that fits,  I can stand tall with, Buy clothes for the size you currently are.

This week fitness:

  • Monday in NYC and walked, 2week challenges
  • Tues Home got 10K steps in 2week challenges
  • Wed NYC for the fitness blogger 2week challenges
  • Thurs  I worked and rested (I feel like I was majorly slacking)
  • Friday walked 2week challenges

This weeks Food:

After last confidence  post and everyone supporting me with such great comments, over 400 people view in 1 day.  I ended going to my inlaws and let the weekend of buffets begin- lets try 5 over the course of the weekend.  I stuck to the green and fish items,  stayed away from sauces(but I did eat more than I should).  It was like I know I should not be eating this,  but I did good this week I inspired people  (and we are back ay my Weightloss Games, which I realized Sunday evening.)   The rest of the week I did well.  Needless to say with my slow down in activity and food I think they balanced them out.  So no loss or gain.  I feel like the little engine that could with a few trips to the bathroom, snackbar, and snooze on the couch.

Next weeks Goals:  for next week Write down everything I eat, and move more.

I will carry on.. one telephone pole to one telephone pole.. it starts with a step , so I am going to continue. Thank for giving me the drive to continue.

I got this!

  1. I would purchase yoga tanks with the built-in sports bras. Nothing makes me feel frumpier than wearing baggy t-shirts, especially in yoga class!

  2. I would wear less jeans & tshirts (I work in a warehouse as a customer service rep) and wear a bit more jewelry. The only thing that I do to boost my self-esteem now is wear cute sunglasses and paint my nails. 🙂

  3. I would buy something that flatters my curvy figure. Usually yoga pants and a nice fitting shirt. I’ve noticed that loose shirts just make me look a lot bigger.

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

  4. I would buy women’s shirts rather than wearing my husbands old t-shirts (they are usually oversized and not flattering) and some nice supporting bras/tanks to help me look good in those shirts!

  5. I would buy a great-fitting set of jogging pants AND shirt–even when you have good pants, a frumpy old tee shirt ruins it and tends to “stick” to all the wrong places when you’re working or working out.

  6. You look great Sherry! I would wear color. I lost weight and still wear black. I always think I look slim in it. One of these days I will buy some colorful shirts.

  7. I’d love to find comfortable running shorts. Because of my thighs I never feel comfortable in running shorts – ugh!

I love the colors in the 2nd outfit on you! I love seeing women wear bright colors. I have a friend who wears a lot of grey and black, mostly grey. I think she has one coral t-shirt. She so needs to bring color into her life.

  8. Oops…forgot to answer the question in my prior comment. Right now I am working out alot so I would buy some new workout clothes to make me feel better while I’m working out:)

  9. I’d buy some yoga tops and pants. Thanks so much Sherry! What an awesome thing to do!

  10. I could use some good workout clothes as well – it’s true that they need to fit properly to get the most out of them AND look your best.

  11. I love it! Great advice. When I was losing baby weight, I always bought a few things to wear in whatever size I was. It made me feel SO much better and I think helped me be more successful about losing the baby weight. I didn’t invest in pricey pieces, but having a few things that fit made the biggest difference in how I felt about myself and my motivation to keep going.

  12. I need some casual wear that I can work out in but also wear when out and about with the family

  13. Girl, outfits do make the woman don’t they?? You looked great in NYC I hope you had fun!
I think I definitely need to get some super cute work out tee’s and pants instead of my baggy stuff.., it is encouraging to continue when you look at yourself and see how far you’ve come!

  14. To boost my self-esteem I’d need a push-up bra and panties with a built in butt.

  15. Since I’m pregnant I’m looking for styles that highlight and emphasize “the bump” and cleavage, though in a very work-appropriate way! Still very into working out daily, whether it’s cardio or stretching (preferably both!) and soon I’m going to need new clothes to do just that. Hoping to find something fresh and new out there and not just the same old oversized t-shirts and sweatpants from my closet!

  16. I would purchase black yoga pants, tight ones to look slimmer in black and feel comfortable as well.

  17. I would buy a new pair of workout pants. My current ones are so old that I don’t feel confident at all!

  18. So jealous, you got to go to that! I bet you just had a blast!!

For me…wearing a dress that shows off my curves, and looks nice is what inspires me most.

  19. I like the tailored look and I love that you talk about wearing clothes that fit! I often go comfortable, easy and well, frumpy. Sometimes I get to kick it up if I find something nice on sale. Trying to find the clothes that show I have curves without showing too much can be a challenge!

Your visual examples of the value of wearing clothes that fit was perfect! Glad you had fun in NYC!

  20. Yes! Confidence and wearing clothes that fit properly are so important! So much focus is put on the size of the pants rather than the fit. What’s the point in wearing your “goal size” if you can’t breathe in it right?!

Glad you had fun at the NYC event!

  21. I would buy one of those dry fit shirts that keep you cool when you walk. I would be walking in style! haha

  22. Some work out tops and bottoms would encourage me to get myself to the gym.
